Kiertotie Privacy Policy

Kiertotie ("the app") is built to work entirely on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what that means — because the honest answer is short: the app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

What the app stores, and where

Everything Kiertotie stores lives only on your own device, in Apple's standard on-device app storage. None of it is ever sent anywhere.

• Your favorites list (places you've starred) — stored locally on your device.
• Your language preference (Finnish or English) — stored locally on your device.
• Your default detour-search distance setting — stored locally on your device.

That's the complete list. There is no user account, no sign-in, and no server that Kiertotie talks to for any of the above — deleting the app deletes this data along with it.

Location

If you grant permission, Kiertotie uses your device's location only to:

• show your position on the map,
• sort places and search results by distance from you,
• optionally pre-fill your current location as a starting point for a route search.

Your location is used on-device, in the moment, to do these things — it is never recorded, stored, transmitted, or shared with anyone, including us. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings without losing any other app functionality (distance sorting simply won't be available).

No accounts, no analytics, no advertising

Kiertotie has:

• no user accounts or sign-in of any kind,
• no analytics or usage-tracking software,
• no advertising network or ad identifiers,
• no third-party data-sharing of any kind.

We (the developer) have no way to see how you use the app, how often you open it, or anything else about you or your device. There is nothing to see — no data is collected in the first place.

Place data shown in the app

The places, opening hours, photos, and descriptions shown in the app come from OpenStreetMap and Wikidata, both open, public data sources — not from you or your usage of the app. This is public information about businesses and locations, not personal data about app users.

Handing off to other apps

When you tap "Get Directions," Kiertotie can open Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze (whichever you choose, if installed) to route you to a place. This simply launches that other app with the destination's coordinates — Kiertotie does not send it any other information about you, and what happens once you're inside that other app is covered by its own privacy policy, not this one.

Children's privacy

Since Kiertotie does not collect any personal data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children either.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future update adds an optional feature that does involve data leaving your device — this page will be updated first, with the "Last updated" date above reflecting the change, before that update ships.
